Not sure which course is right for you? Our guide to Emergency First Aid at Work vs First Aid at Work explains the difference in plain English.

How much does first aid training cost?

Our open course prices are per person and exclude VAT at 20%:

  • EFAW: £159 + VAT
  • FAW: £345 + VAT
  • FAW Re-Qualification: £235 + VAT
  • First Aid Annual Update: £110 + VAT

Training a team? It can be more cost-effective to bring the course to you. For example, six people on EFAW at our open course price would be £954 + VAT. We can also run dedicated courses at a location and on dates that suit your business, with a minimum of six delegates usually recommended. Get in touch and we’ll talk you through the options.

What to expect on the day

Our first aid courses are practical, friendly and focused on building your confidence. You won’t be sat listening to slides all day.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Hands-on practice: you’ll practise CPR on training manikins and learn how to use a defibrillator (AED)
  • Real-life scenarios: your trainer will talk you through the situations you might face at work
  • Assessment: you’ll complete a practical assessment and a written test, so you’ll leave with proof of your skills
  • Your certificate: on successful completion, you’ll receive a Qualsafe-accredited certificate valid for three years

A few top tips: wear comfortable clothing (you’ll be kneeling on the floor for CPR practice) and make sure you can attend the full course, as you’ll need to complete every part to be assessed.

Which course do I need?

The right course depends on your workplace. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) asks every employer to complete a first aid needs assessment to work out how many first aiders they need and what level of training they should have.

As a general rule, EFAW suits smaller, lower-risk workplaces, while FAW is better for larger or higher-risk workplaces. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to help you decide.
