About Course

Course Overview

The PAT Testing course aims to provide an introduction to the principles of, and the requirements for, the testing of portable tools and appliances to comply with the 1989 Electricity at Work Regulations and Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) Code of Practice.

Course Content

This 1/2 day course covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to electricity
  • Types and classes of equipment
  • Basic and advanced PAT testing
  • Risk assessment
  • Test environment
  • Equipment needed
  • Record keeping
  • Fault finding
  • A brief overview of the types of PAT machines available

There will be a practical session where delegates will use the testers and perform formal inspections on equipment. On course completion, delegates will undertake their own PAT Testing safely and correctly, in line with current legislation.
