As a Lean Manufacturing Operative, you will work safely, uphold high quality standards, and thrive in a fast-paced setting. You will develop a diverse skill set by taking ownership of various processes and managing multiple products, such as different vehicle models in automotive manufacturing.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, controlling, and completing manufacturing tasks while following established processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Safety is paramount, so you will maintain health and safety standards by wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), using equipment properly, and keeping work areas organised (5S). Additionally, you will ensure the safe disposal of waste in accordance with environmental standards (ISO 14001).

As a Lean Manufacturing Operative, you will actively contribute to improvements by utilising continuous improvement methods, kaizen tools, lean principles, and problem-solving techniques. You will also perform quality checks to ensure compliance with standards (ISO 9002) and address any defects or concerns promptly.

You will have clear reporting lines and collaborate closely with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and escalation of issues with team leaders, line leaders, process leaders, supervisors, or other management team members when challenges arise.

Delivery Arrangements

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will enjoy monthly visits from a dedicated tutor who will provide tailored sessions either remotely or at your workplace—whichever suits you best! Our blended learning approach combines these interactive sessions with an online portfolio, allowing you to easily upload your work and enabling tutors and managers to track your progress between visits.

You will also be paired with a work mentor for invaluable on-the-job support, helping you apply your learning in real-world situations. As part of the program, you will engage in 6 hours of off-the-job training each week (based on a 30-hour contract). We offer a variety of flexible options to support this, including masterclasses designed to deepen your knowledge and connect you with fellow learners.

As you complete your training, you will transition to the Gateway stage, where you will prepare for your End Point Assessment (EPA). This final assessment allows you to showcase the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you have developed through a professional discussion, supported by a showcase of evidence and a shop floor observation. 

Course Breakdown

As an apprentice, you will work towards earning:

EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (Knowledge and Skills) equipping you with essential industry knowledge and hands-on skills.
If you have not already achieved it, you will also complete Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2, ensuring you have the foundational skills needed for success in your career.

Upon reaching the Gateway Stage, you will prepare for and complete the End Point Assessment (EPA), showcasing your readiness for the next step in your professional journey.

As a Lean Manufacturing Operative, you may be required to handle multiple products with varying specifications in high-volume environments. You will have the flexibility to complete your functional skills assessments either online or on paper, making it convenient to fit your schedule.

The End Point Assessment (EPA) will consist of:

An observation where your practical skills will be demonstrated, followed by a Q&A session to engage with assessors.
A professional discussion that allows you to delve deeper into your experiences and insights.

Costs
