Cybersecurity is a rapidly growing industry worth billions, fuelled by escalating threats such as malware, ransomware, phishing, DDoS attacks, and hacking. Organisations of all sizes are actively seeking cybersecurity experts to safeguard their data, websites, infrastructure, and customer information.
Cybersecurity technologists are in demand across various sectors—including digital, telecommunications, business services, government, finance, healthcare, retail, and transportation. As a technologist, you will collaborate with a diverse range of individuals, from suppliers and customers to technical experts and senior staff. While the role typically takes place in an office or lab setting, some positions may require security clearance due to residency or nationality restrictions. You will have the autonomy to manage your tasks, work within teams of varying skill levels, and potentially oversee projects, budgets, and personnel.
Our apprenticeship program is designed to empower you with the skills necessary to protect organisations, systems, information, personal data, and individuals from cyber threats and unauthorised access. You will gain a solid understanding of security concepts and technologies to effectively minimise risks.
The tasks you will undertake will range from highly technical to analytical and business-oriented, adapting to your team’s evolving needs. You will work towards achieving cybersecurity goals while adhering to legal and regulatory frameworks across multiple sectors, applying practical knowledge to create tailored solutions.
At the end of the apprenticeship, you will be equipped to specialise in one of three exciting roles:
- Cyber Security Engineer
Dive into a tech-focused position where you will design, build, and test secure networks and systems. Potential job titles include Cyber Security Engineer, Consultant, Architect, Analyst, and IT Security Technician. - Cyber Risk Analyst
Focus on risk assessment and analysis, advising on mitigation strategies. This role supports security governance and compliance, with titles like Cyber Security Consultant, Cyber Security Analyst, and Information Security Auditor. - Cyber Defender & Responder
Engage in operational tasks that involve configuring secure systems to prevent breaches and monitoring for security threats. Typical positions include Cyber Security Analyst, Forensics & Incident Response Analyst, and SOC Analyst.
With personal data increasingly stored online and high-profile breaches making headlines, organisations are more vigilant than ever about potential leaks. As a cybersecurity technologist, you will be at the forefront of defending against these threats.
