  • This qualification is designed for anyone who has responsibilities for managing environmental issues as part of their work. There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification however the recommended that your English is at International English Language Testing System 6.0 or higher.

Course Overview

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Environmental Management qualification is designed to be globally relevant and benefit companies in all industry sectors who are seeking to implement effective environmental management systems, increase positive environmental impacts, and reduce negative environmental impacts.

On completion of the qualification, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand a range of environmental issues in order to improve performance and reduce harm
  • Work with an environmental management system and contribute to continual improvement
  • Recognise environmental aspects and evaluate current controls
  • Support decision-making with ethical, legal, and financial arguments
  • Understand the links between your organisation’s activities and wider environmental issues

Course Content

The course is split into two units: EMC1 & EMC2. Within these sections, the following subjects will be covered:

  • Foundations in Environmental Management
  • Environmental Management Systems
  • Assessing environmental aspects and impacts
  • Planning for & dealing with environmental emergencies
  • Control of emissions to air
  • Control of environmental noise
  • Control of contamination of water sources
  • Control of waste and land use
  • Sources and use of energy & energy efficiency

Assessment

As there are two units, EMC1 and EMC2 there will be an online written question paper and practical submission as outlined below:

The assessment for EMC1 consists of an online written question paper that must be completed within 24 hours.

The assessment for EMC2 consists of a practical submission that must be submitted within 2 weeks of the examination date for EMC1.
