About Course

Course Overview

The Vocational Studies pathway offers a personalised curriculum focusing on the unique learning and developmental requirements of learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The programme is tailored to support learners with SEND to progress into further education or employment. It incorporates enrichment activities, which provides support in wider skills and development as well as Functional Skills Mathematics, English and PSHE. The curriculum is tailored to meet individual needs and educaion, health and care plan (EHCP) outcomes to empower students in mapping their paths to achievement, accessing enrichment and advance positively toward agreed outcomes, in a secure and empowering setting.

Delivery Arrangements

The pathway consists of 3 days week with some sessions being offsite dependant on the individual timetable agreed.

Course Breakdown

Learners will gain both practical and real-life experiences, which enables them to confidently prepare for employment, a Supported Internship or other vocational learning. Learners will undertake work-related roles and responsibilities, develop social skills and team working whilst becoming more independent in learning, life and work tasks.

Functional Skills Mathematics and English will be delivered throughout with an assessment at the end of the course. Evidence of learning for the qualification is maintained through an online portfolio, which is assessed throughout the course by the designated tutor.

Progression Routes

Once a young person has demonstrated they have completed the core requirements of the course and have progressed suitably towards their end goals, we expect them to be supported to transition into further vocational learning or employment.
