What are the CITB Funding Changes?
On 11th March 2026, CITB announced changes to how funding will work for the year ahead. These changes will be implemented from April 2026 and include updates to the Large Employer Fund and Employer Networks funding.
This means that the Employer Networks will be available to micro and medium employers with 1-249 employees. These organisations will be able to book training at 50% match funding or at a fixed contribution for health and safety courses.
Employers with over 250 directly employed staff will no longer be able to access the Employer Networks. However, for just one year, they will have access to a new Large Employer Fund. The fund will provide large employers with £18,000 to invest in training. CITB are continuing to work with large employers to put together the next phase of support, but the Large Employer Fund is available in the meantime.
What CITB funding is available?
The CITB board set the Employer Networks budget at £11.5 million. They have then broken down the funding by employer size. This ensures that CITB can continue to support as many employers as they can.
Below is a table that they have provided to explain the funding details for the Employer Networks further:

CITB courses that WS Training offers
Overall, CITB has noticed a 36% rise in employer engagement in programmes such as Employer Networks over the past four years. They recognise that this shows significant growth within the construction industry. They also acknowledge that they need to carefully think about how they distribute funding sustainably across the sector.Â
