Biohazard and Infection Control

Course Overview:

This course is intended to give useful practical advice regarding the risks of biohazard and infection control in the workplace.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:

  • Help ensure the health, safety and welfare of those they work with
  • Have better understanding of what biohazards and infection control might be present in their workplace

Course Content:

Assessment of Risk Exposure to:

  • Blood Borne Viruses - Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, H.I.V
  • Bacterial Infections- S. Aureus, MRSA, C. Difficile, Tetanus
  • Signs and Symptoms of Infection
  • Clinical Waste
  • Cross Infection
  • Universal Precautions
  • Hand Washing
  • Cleaning
  • PPE
  • Needle Stick Injuries
  • Safe disposal of sharps
  • Infection control during a First Aid Incident

There is no formal test. This is an awareness course so delegates will be assessed throughout the training.
