TAQA (formally CAVA) TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (RQF)

This qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in a workshop, classroom or other training environment other than assessing competence in a work environment. There must be evidence to cover all of the assessment methods listed in the units.

Pre-course attendance preparation It is essential that prior to day 1 of the course, candidates source a minimum of two learners so that 4 observations can be carried out. To provide clarity, it is not essential that learners are currently undertaking any formal training, however they must be able to be assessed against a written process during observation days.

Enough time should be allocated to ensure that the portfolio is completed in it’s entirety, on or before the “Final Portfolio Build Date” listed on the booking form/joining instructions. For those who do not complete within the allocated time, further charges may apply should additional tutor support be required. These charges will differ dependant on the level of support required.

Entry Requirements There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of level two in literacy or numeracy or equivalent. The qualifications are suitable for learners of 18 years of age and above.

Structure TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (RQF)

Learners must achieve 15 credits from three mandatory units as listed below:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of assessment Unit no. D/601/5313
  • Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding Unit no. F/601/5319
  • Assess occupational competence in the work environment Unit no. H/601/5314

Total Qualification Time TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (RQF) – 150 hours

Guided Learning Hours TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (RQF) – 84 hours

Assessment The qualification is assessed by internally set and marked assessments subject to external quality assurance. All learning outcomes must be met to achieve a pass.

Unit 1 is a knowledge unit and is achieved by completing an assignment following the training sessions. This will require research and self-study time to ensure all criteria are met, which is part of the GLH quoted above.

Units 2 and 3 are achieved by gathering evidence for a portfolio following assessments within the working environment and through training sessions. Some time will be spent by the candidate in research and preparing evidence which is also part of the GLH quoted above.

Support Candidates are given support by the tutor via face-to-face training, email and assessment sessions. Candidates are provided with notes and a text book to help with their research for completing the Unit 1 assignment.
