**Course Title: Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) **
Entry requirements:
Course Aims: The aim of the qualification is to benefit Learners by enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and/or take on the role of first aider in the workplace.
Requalification Requirements: This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified. It is possible to reduce GLH when requalifying and attend a 12 hour FAW requalifying course. In order to attend a 12 hour requalifying course, Learners must produce their current or previous recently expired FAW certificate. The certificate should be in a format as accepted by HSE. Requalification training should be delivered in no less than 12 hours (2 days) excluding breaks.
Course Content: The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work has two units that delegates are required to complete in order to achieve the qualification.
The Delegate will: Unit 1: Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace
Course Assessment: There are assessment tools to make sure Learners gain the required knowledge, skills and understanding.
Practical assessments – observed by the Trainer throughout the course, with the results of each learning outcome recorded on the practical assessment paperwork. There are 6 practical assessments for this qualification:1.CPR and safe use of an AED, 2. Choking casualty, 3. Unconscious casualty, 4. Wounds, bleeding and shock, 5. Secondary survey, 6. Management of fractures
Formative assessments – a range of informal assessment procedures employed by the Trainer/Assessor during the learning process to measure each Learner’s knowledge, skills and understanding related to the assessment criteria
Theory assessment/multiple choice question papers – there is 1 paper per unit for each Learner and Learnersshould answer all the questions under ‘examination’ conditions, the maximum time allowed for Unit 1 is 25 minutes and for Unit 2 is 40 minutes, minimum mark is 11 out of 15 for Unit 1 and 18 out of 25 for Unit 2 in order to be considered for an overall ‘Pass’
