Role / Occupation: Trainee Alarm Engineers x 2

Overview:

Abacus Fire and Security are looking for two trainee alarm engineers to help assist with the installing of security and fire alarms in around and Suffolk.  You will learn how to correctly install alarms, learn about cable pulling, on hand to assist your mentor and have the opportunity to progress into a niche career.

Abacus Fire and Security is a family-owned business, established in 2005. They are pioneers of modern technology but firm believers in good old-fashioned values. They deal with installing alarms and security to residential addresses as well as commercial businesses and more. 

This role will involve the following:

  • Installing and maintaining security equipment 
  • Fire Extinguisher handling 
  • CCTV installation and repair
  • Working alongside qualified engineers and help assist them where required
  • Learning about health and safety on site
  • Learning about different types of tools and use of working with them
  • Attending different sites from residential to commercials businesses to follow out installations or repairs

Over time the role will progress to an apprenticeship or full time employment. 

This role needs someone who can travelling independently and not rely on public transport. Needs use of car/motorbike or has a reliable source of transport as this job will take you in and around various sites of Suffolk.

Skills required: Team player, be good with working with hands and practical thinking, well presented, basic maths, confident, good sense of humour, doesn't mind getting hands dirty and not afraid of working long hours due to the nature of the business.

Full training will be given in house as no qualifications are required for this role. 

Working hours:- Monday - Friday 8am-5pm on site for 8 weeks before an outcome is decided. 1 day in college will be included in the week and will be from 9.30am-3pm. 

Start date:- 2nd September 2021

About Traineeships:-

A Traineeship is a course with work experience that gets you ready for work or an apprenticeship. It can last up to 6 months.
You can apply if you’re:

  • eligible to work in England
  • unemployed and have little or no work experience
  • aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 4

You’ll get:

  • a work experience placement
  • help with English and maths (if you need it)

You won’t be paid, but you may be given expenses for things like travel and meals.
