Catering Assistant

Role / Occupation: Trainee Chef

Overview:

Ipswich and Suffolk club are looking for a general catering assistant to help liaise with the chef and prepare food for the in house restaurant. You will learn how to correctly prepare food, assist the chef and learn most elements within the catering industry.

This role will involve learning how to prepare lunches and dinners on the restaurant fine dining menu, supporting the chef with his duties, learning the important of hygiene as well as health and safety when it comes to preparation of food.  

  • Cutting/Chopping food
  • Cooking varied meals on the menu from scratch
  • Assisting the chef with numerous duties such as food preparation
  • Wiping down all units and washing up
  • Practising standard Health and Safety at all times
  • Communicating well with the chef and surrounding staff members. 

Over time the role will progress to an apprenticeship in Hospitality.

This role needs someone who is good with communication, has an element of common sense and works well with others. Full training will be given in house and could lead to a career in the hospitality industry. 

The role is based in Ipswich Town Centre so please bear this in mind when applying for the role. 

Working hours:- Monday - Friday 8am-4pm for 8 weeks before an outcome is decided. 1 day in college will be included in the week and will be from 9.30am-3pm. 

Start date:- 2nd September 2021

About traineeships:-

A traineeship is a course with work experience that gets you ready for work or an apprenticeship. It can last up to 6 months.
You can apply if you’re:

  • eligible to work in England
  • unemployed and have little or no work experience
  • aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 4

You’ll get:

  • a work experience placement
  • help with English and maths (if you need it)

You won’t be paid, but you may be given expenses for things like travel and meals.
