An opportunity has arisen at
WS Training for a Learning Support Assistant to join our team based at our
Supported Learning Centre in Colchester.

LSA’s are responsible for the
supporting the quality of delivery of teaching, learning & assessment to
our high needs students and will work with tutors to support the assessment
against National Occupational Standards, ensuring timely achievement of
qualifications for all high needs students either in Central or at our
associated work placements.




PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES



•Support learners in sessions
who have barriers to learning or SEND



•Attend team meetings and
staff briefings



•Support and evaluate group
or individual training sessions, when a training need has been identified to
support learner’s development



•Update individual learning
plans with learners to ensure the relevant training is being provided.



•Complete daily records and
relevant assessment documentation in line with WS Training Limited’s quality
procedures.



•Monitor learners in both in
work placements and in centre.



•Transport Learners and
support 1 to 1 in placements or other educational establishments



•Regularly liaise with
placement providers on the learners progress and development needs to ensure
placement engagement and involvement



•Keep up to date with and
ensure that the highest standards of Health and Safety and Equality and
Diversity practice are observed in the centre and work placements.



•Liaise with other members of
staff by contributing at standardisation events and team meetings to develop
assessment resources.



•Complete all other necessary
associated administration in accordance with WS Training Limited’s systems,
policies and procedures



•Support continuous
improvement as required by Awarding Bodies, inspection teams and any other
relevant bodies.



•Liaise with other members of
staff regarding individual learner’s development and contribute towards other
aspects of the centre activities.



•Manage learner behaviour.



•Deliver/support in sessions
as required.



 



RESPONSIBILITIES



•The support of delivery of
teaching, learning and development of high needs learners providing clear
direction and information, enabling them to fulfill their potential ensuring
individual set targets are met



•Support within a variety of
soft and hard skill courses to meet the needs of the target groups.



•To ensure adherence to
Health & Safety (including Safe Learner concept), Code of Conduct policies,
Equality and Diversity and that all learners are given fair access to
opportunities.



•To actively promote and
support an empowered open success culture.



 



Communication at all levels
to be open and honest and a clear two- way channel.



 



KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED



•Knowledge and understanding
of the multiple barriers young people face and be able to develop support
mechanisms / interventions.



•Understanding of SEND
reforms



•Evidence of relevant
Professional Development



•Current knowledge and
understanding of the FE sector



•Robust knowledge of
Safeguarding, Prevent and Equality and Diversity



•Possession of a current
driving license



•Good ICT skills



•Ability to communicate both
orally and in writing with people at all levels



•Ability to relate to young
people with multiple barriers to education.



•Able to demonstrate
flexibility



•Maintain positive within a
challenging environment.



 



EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED



•Recent experience of working
in an educational setting delivering learning to students with Special
Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND).
