This course is delivered remotely.
Course Overview:
This course is designed to engage the learner on implementing infection control. Reviewing and managing good and safe practice in the workplace in view of the current situation arising from the Covid-19 outbreak and similar previous threats, not just in the health care industry but all workplaces where people work in close proximity.
Overview of Approach:
The workshop comprises of a half day, comprising of three and a half hours in total per session. Given the nature of remote delivery and for that reason the course will be divided into two main headings with allowing occasional periodic short 5 minute intervals for the learners to take notes and answer questions that may be given by the tutor during the session. This will also enable delegates to maintain adequate concentration between topics covered. A break will be taken at an appropriate stage halfway through the course.

Session 1 (90 minutes)
Module 1 – Why we need Policy and Procedures / Health & Safety Covid-19 lessens to be learnt and why mistakes were made – 40 minutes Module 2 - Personal hygiene and the benefits - 30 minutes Module 3 - The use of barriers and PPE - 20 minutes
BREAK (15 MINUTES)
Session 2 (90 minutes)
Module 4 – Bacteria and viruses. How do they really affect humans and transmission - 40 minutes Module 5 – Chain of infection - 30 minutes Module 6 – Susceptible individuals and immune status - 20 minutes
Opportunity for final questions and discussion – 10 minutes
