Driver CPC- Alcohol and Drug Limitations and Driver Hours- Remote Training

This course will be delivered via remote training.

Aim: Give candidates a clear understanding of the law and ramifications of drink/drug driving.

Objectives: Candidates will be able to

• Discuss the limitations and restrictions regarding drink/drug driving
• Calculate alcohol units
• Recall alcohol unit limits
• Identify the hidden dangers of drink and drugs
• Explain field impairment testing
• Carry out the field impairment tests
• Discuss the high risk offender scheme

The course will cover topics that will include: Defining alcohol, what’s the problem with alcohol, consequences of drink/drug driving and the hidden danders of alcohol and drugs.

Practical elements include: Calculating units of alcohol

Five field impairment tests

• Pupillary Examination
• Romberg Balance Test
• Walk and Turn Test
• One Leg Stand Test
• Finger to Nose Test
