Course Overview:

To provide a course of refresher training for existing overhead crane operators or a basic training course for new overhead crane operators that will enable them to operate a overhead crane in a safe and competent manner in accordance with current legislation.

Course Objectives:

On completion of the course trainees will have an understanding of the following:

• Safety rules and operating procedures
• Importance of good maintenance and safe operation
• Stability and mobility considerations when operating equipment
• Carry out pre shift checks and daily maintenance on their machine

Course Content:

• Appointment of competent persons
• Requirement for inspections of lifting equipment
• Keeping of relevant records
• Supervision & planning of lifting operations
• Requirement for risk assessments
• Requirements for the provision of training
• Maintenance of work equipment
• Protection of work equipment users from equipment failure or over turning
• Practical exercises

Duration:

Novice Operator with no Certificate - 2 days training required

Experienced Operator and Renewal of Certificate (Refresher) - 1 days training required
