Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

Accredited/Awareness Training: Non accredited – a WS Training certificate of attendance will be awarded upon completion.

Course Aims: To provide an introduction to the principles of, and the requirements for, the testing of portable tools and appliances to comply with the 1989 Electricity at Work Regulations and Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) Code of Practice.

Who Should Attend: Those who require an understanding of why PAT Testing is necessary and need to be able to demonstrate safely and accurately all aspects of electrical test and run procedures.

Course Content: • Introduction to electricity, • Types and Classes of equipment, • Basic and advanced pat testing, • Risk assessment, • Test environment, • Equipment needed, • Record keeping, • Fault finding, • Brief overview on types of pat machines available.

Course Assessment: There will be a practical session where delegates will use the testers and perform formal inspections on equipment. On completion of the course delegates will be able to undertake their own PAT Testing safely and correctly, in line with current legislation.
